Curtain intro
What was wrong
Fifty seven rooms in the French quarter of Hanoi, sold online through the same booking portal template every hotel in the city uses, with nothing to separate it from a chain.
How we read the brand
A boutique hotel is bought on atmosphere, so the site opens like a room does: two panels part like curtains over a live view from the balcony. After that it is deliberately quiet. Bone paper, a single high contrast serif with an italic for the soft words, and photography given the whole width. There is a hand drawn elevation of the facade rather than a logo lockup, because the building is the brand.
What it does now
A hotel site that reads at the level of the room rate, and a reservation flow that belongs to the hotel rather than to a booking portal taking fifteen percent.
Every screen, as it really renders.
Captured from the live site at full width. Nothing here is a mockup or a flattering crop.
Home
The curtain parts on a live balcony view. Nothing else on the first screen except the name and one line.

The residences
Eight room types set as an editorial spread. Type carries the page, photography supports it.

Dining
Two restaurants given separate identities inside one site, because guests choose them separately.

Reserve
Direct booking, on the hotel's own site, so the margin stays with the hotel.

On a phone
Most of the traffic to a site like this arrives on a phone, so the mobile layout is designed first and the desktop version follows it.

The same site at 430 pixels wide. Type resizes rather than shrinks, the navigation collapses into something you can reach with a thumb, and every image is served at a size that will actually load on mobile data.
